About Avon Maitland District School Board

The Avon Maitland District School Board is a full service, public, English school district in southwestern Ontario, bordering Lake Huron and covering some of the most productive agricultural land in Canada.

Our international student program provides a superior Ontario education opportunity and full English as a Second Language (ESL) support to all international students in all 8 of the District’s Public High Schools. Over the past three years, we have welcomed over 900 students from 50 countries including Andorra, Brazil, Colombia, Chile, Mexico, Venezuela, Spain, China, South Korea, Thailand, Germany, Denmark, France, Estonia, Italy, Finland, Netherlands, Switzerland, Vietnam and many more.

Our program provides a full service, public, English education with 3 key priorities for our students in our strategic plan: I AM well, I AM prepared, and I AM engaged. We want our students to feel a sense of belonging and well-being, as well as having them prepared in the lessons and opportunities we provide so that they are prepared for life beyond high school.

Avon Maitland’s commitment to student success makes us a leader in motivating and engaging students. We provide inclusive learning environments and honour diversity, while embracing technology in the classroom, providing English as a second language support, and advanced study opportunities in specialist programs for the arts and culture, environment, information and communications technology, health and wellness, manufacturing, hospitality and tourism, energy and transportation.
